Half-Day Rock Climbing:
Rock Dimensions offers top-roping programs that focus on the skills and unique experience of climbing outdoors on real rock cliffs. We offer trips at locations in the Piedmont and Mountains of North Carolina, with convenient camping nearby. Participants will learn necessary safety skills for an outdoor environment, along with terminology, climbing movement, useful knots. Rock Dimensions trips are fun and engaging, providing a unique and exciting challenge for individuals of all skill levels.

LOCATION:

  • Trips offered in the NC Mountains near Boone, NC.
  • Rock Dimensions operates under a Special Use Permit issued by the
    U.S. Forest Service for guiding in Pisgah National Forest.

GROUP SIZE:

  • Maximum of 10-12 participants, depending on location.
  • There are many options for larger groups that can be discussed specifically with your group (different location, 2-day program, etc.).
  • Group sizes are limited due to environmental impact concerns and government restrictions, and to allow for maximum participation.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Instruction in knots, harnesses, communication, belaying and climbing movement
  • Top-rope climbing on routes ranging from beginner to intermediate
  • Belaying and backup belaying, depending on age of participants and group size
  • Rappelling on a vertical face
  • The trip will last 3-4 hours, depending on location


ROCK DIMENSIONS PROVIDES:

  • Harnesses, Helmets, Ropes, Belay and Rappel devices, Anchoring equipment
  • Experienced climbing guides and instructors
  • Climbing shoes provided for an additional $5/pair

COST: $50.00 each, minimum $150/day

Group Top-Rope Rock Climbing:

Participants will learn necessary safety skills for an outdoor environment, along with terminology, climbing movement, useful knots, and rappelling and belay techniques. Rock Dimensions trips are fun and engaging, providing a unique and exciting challenge for individuals of all skill levels.

  • Maximum of 10-17 participants, depending on location.
  • There are many options for larger groups that can be discussed specifically with your group (different location, 2-day program, etc.).
  • Group sizes are limited due to environmental impact concerns and government restrictions, and to allow for maximum participation.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Instruction in knots, harnesses, communication, belaying and climbing movement
  • Top-roping on 3-4 climbs, ranging from beginner to intermediate
  • Belaying and backup belaying
  • Rappel instruction: equipment, fireman’s backup belay, techniques
  • Belay and backup belay
  • Rappelling on vertical and over-hanging rock faces using various rappel devices

Intermediate Rock Climbing:
Go beyond the beginning climbing skills of equipment, terminology and movement to experience climbing at a higher level. The toprope climbing will be a little more technical than beginner level, possibly involving semi-hanging belays and long rappels. Climbing in new areas is also a great way to gain experience and become more well-rounded in technique.

LOCATION:

GROUP SIZE:

  • Maximum of 10-12 participants, depending on location.
  • Group sizes are limited due to environmental impact concerns and government restrictions, and to allow for maximum participation.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Review of basic knots and belaying
  • Warm up on 1 or 2 easy routes, then progress to more moderate climbs
  • Learn new climbing movements
  • Learn more useful climbing knots
  • Belay and backup belay
  • Learn more about the equipment involved in climbing
  • Rappel review: equipment, fireman’s backup belay, techniques
